Пошаговое решение
В этом упражнении нам нужно преобразовать предложения из прямой речи в косвенную (reported speech). При переводе в прошлое время (так как глагол said стоит в Past Simple) происходит сдвиг времен на шаг назад (backshift), а также изменения местоимений и указателей времени/места.
Шаг 1. Правила согласования времён и изменений слов
Основные правила для данного упражнения:
- Can меняется на could .
- Present Simple / Present Continuous меняются на Past Simple / Past Continuous .
- Will меняется на would .
- Present Perfect меняется на Past Perfect .
- Past Simple меняется на Past Perfect .
- Must (в значении обязанности) часто меняется на had to , но может оставаться must , если обязанность актуальна сейчас. В школьной грамматике чаще требуют had to .
- Указатели времени: today → that day , tomorrow → the next day / the following day , yesterday → the day before / the previous day , last night → the night before , now → then , next Sunday/Monday/weekend → the following Sunday/Monday/weekend .
- Местоимения: I → he/she , my → his/her , we → they , us → them , you → me/him/her/them (зависит от контекста).
Шаг 2. Разбор предложений 1–5
1) "I can't call on them today, I can do it on Friday," said Jane.
Jane сказала, что не может позвонить им в тот день, но сможет сделать это в пятницу.
can't → couldn't ; today → that day ; can → could .
2) "Helen didn't come to the party last night," Bob said.
Боб сказал, что Хелен не пришла на вечеринку накануне вечером.
didn't come (Past Simple) → hadn't come (Past Perfect); last night → the night before .
3) "My mum isn't very well," Mary said.
Мэри сказала, что её мама не очень хорошо себя чувствует.
isn't (Present Simple) → wasn't (Past Simple); My → her .
4) "I'll tell Sue I saw you," George said.
Джордж сказал, что расскажет Сью, что видел меня/её/их (контекст обычно подразумевает «меня», так как говорящий обращается к собеседнику).
I'll tell → he would tell ; I saw (Past Simple) → he had seen (Past Perfect); you → me (или him/her , но стандартно при отсутствии контекста диалога переводят как me , если Джордж говорит со мной, или оставляют you если адресат неизвестен. В ГДЗ чаще: he would tell Sue he had seen me ).
5) "I haven't talked to Jane recently," Anna said.
Анна сказала, что недавно не разговаривала с Джейн.
haven't talked (Present Perfect) → hadn't talked (Past Perfect); I → she .
Шаг 3. Разбор предложений 6–10
6) "We're living in New York now," Steve said.
Стив сказал, что они живут в Нью-Йорке тогда (в то время).
We're living (Present Continuous) → they were living (Past Continuous); now → then .
7) "I'll meet Jane tomorrow," Tony said.
Тони сказал, что встретится с Джейн на следующий день.
I'll meet → he would meet ; tomorrow → the next day (или the following day ).
8) "John has quit his job," Diana said.
Диана сказала, что Джон уволился с работы.
has quit (Present Perfect) → had quit (Past Perfect).
9) "You can visit us any time," Jenny said.
Дженни сказала, что я могу навещать их в любое время.
You can → I could (или he/she could , зависит от того, к кому обращалась Дженни. Обычно в таких задачах подразумевается обращение к «мне» или «нам». Стандартный ответ: Jenny said that I could visit them any time ); us → them .
10) "They are getting married next Sunday," Sue said.
Сью сказала, что они женятся в следующее воскресенье.
are getting married (Present Continuous for future) → were getting married (Past Continuous); next Sunday → the following Sunday .
Шаг 4. Разбор предложений 11–15
11) "I didn't go to work yesterday," Luke said.
Люк сказал, что не ходил на работу накануне.
didn't go (Past Simple) → hadn't gone (Past Perfect); yesterday → the day before (или the previous day ).
12) "We played well but we lost the game," Tom said.
Том сказал, что они играли хорошо, но проиграли игру.
played (Past Simple) → had played (Past Perfect); lost (Past Simple) → had lost (Past Perfect); We → they .
13) "I'm flying to Madrid this Sunday," Paula said.

14) "I'll be here next Monday," Charlie said.

При выполнении задания важно помнить о согласовании времён (Sequence of Tenses). Если вводный глагол стоит в прошедшем времени (said), то все времена в придаточном предложении сдвигаются на один шаг назад в прошлое. Также необходимо менять указательные слова времени и места (this -> that, here -> there, tomorrow -> the next day и т.д.) и личные местоимения в соответствии с логикой повествования.
