Используйте глаголы в скобках для передачи предложений в косвенной речи. Проверьте по справочнику грамматики.

ж) 'Don't touch that! The paint is still wet,' said the decorator. (warned)
з) Wendy said to the teacher, 'Please, please give me another day to finish the project.' (begged)
и) 'I'm sorry I offended you' he said. (apologised)
к) 'I was late because of an accident on the motorway,' he told his boss. (explained)

Пошаговое решение
В этом упражнении нам нужно преобразовать прямую речь в косвенную, используя конкретные глаголы-репортеры (reporting verbs) из скобок. Ключ к успеху — знать правильную грамматическую конструкцию для каждого глагола: после boast , complain , promise , insist , warn , beg , apologise и explain часто используются герундий или инфинитив, а также предлоги ( about , for , of ). Также не забываем о согласовании времён (backshift) и изменении местоимений.
Шаг 1. Глаголы с конструкцией "verb+that-clause" или "verb+ing-form"
Рассмотрим предложения 1–3 и 5–6.
- 1. boasted: Конструкция boast about doing something или boast that... . Так как в оригинале «I'm the best...», лучше использовать придаточное предложение. Время меняется на Past Simple/Past Perfect.
Jenny boasted that she was the best player on the team. - 2. complained: Часто используется конструкция complain about doing something или complain that... . Здесь уместно придаточное.
Tim complained that Mrs Smith always gave them a lot of homework. - 3. accused: Жёсткая конструкция: accuse somebody OF doing something . Предлог of обязателен, далее идёт герундий.
The angry neighbour accused the children of breaking his window. - 5. promised: Конструкция promise to do something . Отрицание сохраняется через not to do .
The little boy promised not to do it again. - 6. insisted: Может быть insist on doing something или insist that... . В контексте приказа/требования чаще используют insist that+should/must или просто прошедшее время. Вариант с герундием тоже возможен, если акцент на действии.
Helen's mother insisted that she finish her homework before she went out with her friends. (или ...insisted on her finishing... )
Шаг 2. Глаголы с конструкцией "verb+object+infinitive" или специфические предлоги
Разберём предложения 4, 7, 8, 9, 10.
- 4. reminded: Конструкция remind somebody TO DO something (напомнить кому-то сделать что-то).
Tina reminded Kim to call Paul. - 7. warned: Конструкция warn somebody NOT TO DO something или warn somebody THAT... . Здесь есть два момента: запрет трогать и причина (краска мокрая). Можно объединить.
The decorator warned us not to touch that because the paint was still wet. - 8. begged: Конструкция beg somebody FOR something или beg somebody TO DO something . Просьба дать ещё день.
Wendy begged the teacher to give her another day to finish the project. - 9. apologised: Конструкция apologise FOR doing something . Предлог for требует герундия.
He apologised for offending me. (или ...for having offended me ) - 10. explained: Конструкция explain WHY/SOMETHING TO SOMEBODY . Нельзя сказать *explained him*, только explained to him . Причина объясняется через because или due to .
He explained to his boss that he had been late because of an accident on the motorway.
Шаг 3. Проверка и итоговые ответы
Проверьте, чтобы во всех предложениях были правильно изменены местоимения (I → he/she, we → they/us и т.д.) и времена (Present → Past, Future → Conditional/Future-in-the-Past).

Основные трудности связаны с выбором предлогов после репортёрных глаголов (accuse OF, apologise FOR, insist ON) и порядком слов при использовании объекта (remind sb TO do, beg sb TO do). Для глагола explain важно помнить, что он не принимает двойного дополнения без предлога to (explain to someone).
